After the Mentoring Programme in April, AOPL staff members provided a following-up volunteering activity on 12 November to the same students from Marsiling, MacPherson, Lakeside, Teck Ghee and GongShang. A total of 70 students, accompanied by 30 RSVP volunteers (The organization of senior volunteers) in the Mentoring Programme and 41 staffs from Aluminium Offshore, went on the year-end party at NEWater Visitor Centre.
The programme started with a team-building game where students and volunteers were divided into four teams to play the game “Swamp Island Maze” together. Students were required to be disciplined, cooperated, and focused to accomplish the task. Next was the singing and dancing performance by the students, where all the kids (both young and old) enjoyed with the party theme!
More than just the fun, we were touched to hear testimonies of underprivileged students benefitting from this mentorship programme. Many examples were cited where students’ behaviour and results in school improved tremendously. Keep up the good work AOPL and RSVP!
