This year, AOPL staffs provided volunteering activity to another group of beneficiary, the lonely and less privileged seniors living in our community.
On 15 September 2015, AOPL staff took time off from work and went to the Sree Narayana Mission Home for the Aged Sick, together with RSVP volunteers. The event activities were specially designed to boost physical, mental and emotional well-being of seniors with the goal to enrich their lives by engaging them and creating a comfort zone where they will be encouraged to be active participants in simple and pleasurable learning activities. The event’s theme was aligned to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with the seniors as well.
The event started with a high-tea and moon cake serving session, and followed by hand exercises; all volunteers provided guidance and did the exercises together with the seniors. The other activities included memory game and craft work. The volunteers interacted with seniors and guided them to join the game and craft work. The event ended in a sing-along session by AOPL staff. This is a meaningful activity as we could bring some joy to these seniors before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
